Nike's World Cup Ad: Funny On Many Levels [Video]

Watch this ad. It's good. Directed by the same man behind Crash and Babel. Do yourself a favor and watch it in 1080p, loudly, and in full screen.

There're all kinds of gems in it:
  • Ronaldinho wasn't named for the Brazil squad [check out thoughts on squads from David]. Nike just face-palmed 30 seconds of Ronaldinho's famous stepovers. Wonder how much that cost.
  • One of the main characters in Babel plays Ronaldo in "his movie".
  • Yes, that was Federer.
And more. It's a good spot and actually very funny.

I can't wait for the World Cup. Glory every four years.

Update: Just realized that Brazil is just doing the ROK team in the clip. Sadface.

Summer Kicks Are Here [Mesh]

Hellooooo summer.

UPDATE: These shoes are awesome. They're incredibly light because the material is a nylon mesh. As expected, they breathe well and I personally like wearing them without socks. They're comfortable as far as Chucks go, so no surprise there. They're definitely summer shoes. Beach shoes. Not really water shoes - I wouldn't be thrilled if they got a bunch of water in them because the soles will soak up water. I plan to wear them on dry summer days/nights.

Overall, definitely pleased with the purchase. They're cheaper at Zappos.

Drinking Destruction and Random Thought

Great look at some drinks-o-doom. Jump to the article for the full list. By the way, that Gotta-Have-It sized PB&C from Cold Stone is the saturated fat equivalent of grilling and consuming 68 strips of aorta-destroying bacon. Tasty? Maybe. But your heart hates you.

We humans are a funny bunch. We're not very rational, easily-duped, and highly susceptible to influence from external sources. We're definitely not stupid, but we're definitely not as smart as we think we are. On top of our intelligence, we also have our laundry lists of desires and needs through which we navigate to live better lives.

Interacting with people and providing for them innovative solutions to the needs that they may or may not acknowledge with creative products and groundbreaking services - that would be something worthwhile. Collaborating with others to understand how people think and act to help, not to sell. To me, that's something worth doing.

Can't wait for ID. I'm ready to get schooled.

Ghostbusters [IE]

It's awesome that the NYPL asked IE to do it. Watch the video, it's classic Improv Everywhere.

Ah, the memories.
